Dark pink flowers. Water regularly throughout the growing season until the new plants are fully established. In spring, mulch the base of the plant with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Weigel requires little pruning. After flowering, cut the stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
