Plant size 120-140cm. Summer green, ~20 m tall trees, wide pyramidal crown, horizontally erect branches. Needles blue-green, turn yellow and fall off in early November. Blooms in April-May, simultaneously with the unfolding of needles. Cones at first ovoid, but later, as the tips of the cone scales bend, they become rosette-shaped. Cones fall off in September-October. Grows well in drained sandy loam, loamy sand, fairly moist, but deep soils. Tolerates shading better than other larch species, but grows better in full light. Winter-hardy.
